Coconut spread with no added sugar and crunchy almonds – Coconoot Crunchy

They say almonds once grew on a coconut palm – and that's how I was born! Coconoot Crunchy with no added sugar is a thick spread made from roasted almonds and coconut, full of crunchy almond pieces. We make it by hand in Kraków – Good Noot is the nutty sister of the Good Lood ice cream shops. If you are looking for “Coconut Crunchy” from Good Noot – that's me, just spelled with a double “o”. Contains naturally occurring sugars.

Prefer the classic version? See Coconoot Crunchy with sugar.

Why Nutmaniacs choose Coconoot Crunchy with no added sugar

  • 24% roasted almonds – and we roast the almond pieces ourselves: not too hard, not too soft, just crunchy.
  • Coconut two ways – coconut flesh (16%) and desiccated coconut (7%).
  • No added sugar – sweetened with a sweetener: maltitol.
  • No palm oil – we use shea fat instead.
  • Gluten-free and vegetarian (contains milk powder).
  • Handmade in Kraków – shipped within 24 h on working days, free delivery from 99 PLN.

Sugar-free coconut spread – what is it, actually?

In shops, “coconut cream” can mean three different products:

  • coconut spread – a thick, sweet spread for bread and desserts, like Coconoot Crunchy;
  • coconut cream for whipping or cooking – a liquid product made from coconut flesh, usually in a can or carton, for curries, soups and whipped cream;
  • coconut paste – just ground coconut flesh, with nothing added.

And what about “sugar-free”? Legally, a sugar-free spread could contain no more than 0.5 g of sugars per 100 g. Coconut and almonds have their own naturally occurring sugars, so Coconoot is a spread with no added sugar: we add no sugar, and the sweetness comes from maltitol. 100 g contains 6.7 g of sugars and 16 g of polyols.

A spread is also not a paste. A paste is usually 100% of one ingredient – like our almond paste Tylko Migdał. A spread combines several ingredients into a sweet, creamy taste. A vegan alternative with almond pieces is Almond Crunchy.

How to choose a coconut spread with no added sugar? What to look for in the ingredients

  • How much coconut and nuts? Check the percentages next to the ingredients – they decide the taste. Coconoot has 24% almonds and 23% coconut.
  • What is it sweetened with? “No added sugar” usually means sweeteners such as maltitol or erythritol. You will find their amount in the table as polyols.
  • What fat? If you avoid palm oil, look for it in the ingredients – we use shea fat.
  • Milk powder? Important for vegans and people allergic to milk – Coconoot contains it.
  • Smooth or crunchy? Nut pieces add crunch – here they are roasted almonds.
