Pistachio cream with no added sugar – 45% pistachios

Love pistachios but cutting down on sugar? Meet the younger sister of our classic Pistachio pistachio cream. The same 45% roasted pistachios, the same velvety texture and a pinch of Himalayan salt – only instead of sugar it is sweetened with maltitol, so there are just 3.1 g of sugars per 100 g. Contains naturally occurring sugars. We roast, grind, jar and label the pistachios ourselves – by hand, in our workshop in Kraków. Good Noot is the nutty sister of the Kraków ice cream shop Good Lood, so we know a thing or two about pistachios.

Sugar-free pistachio cream – what does it actually mean?

In search engines and shops you'll often see the phrase "sugar-free pistachio cream". It's worth knowing what's behind it. "Sugar-free" is reserved for products with no more than 0.5 g of sugars per 100 g. Pistachios naturally contain sugars, so we honestly say "no added sugar" – we don't add any sugar or syrups, and 100 g of the cream contains 3.1 g of sugars that come from the ingredients.

The sweetness comes from maltitol – a sweetener from the polyol group. Thanks to it, the cream tastes like a classic treat rather than a "light version".

And how is a cream different from a pistachio paste? A paste is 100% ground pistachios – thicker, distinctly nutty and unsweetened. A cream combines pistachios with other ingredients, so it's smoother, sweet and spreads beautifully. If you prefer the pure essence of pistachio, choose ONLY PISTACHIO pistachio paste with no added sugar.

How to choose a pistachio cream with no added sugar? What to look for in the ingredients

Jars of green cream look alike, but the labels can differ a lot. Here's what to look out for:

  • Pistachio content – check how much there is (as a percentage) and whether pistachios come first in the ingredients list. The higher, the more pistachio flavour.
  • What it's sweetened with – "no added sugar" means no sugars were added. The label names the sweetener and shows the amount of sugars in the nutrition table.
  • Type of fat – if you want a cream without palm oil, look for it in the ingredients under its various names.
  • Additives – colours, flavourings, preservatives. A cream can have the natural, slightly olive colour of pistachios – it doesn't have to be bright green.
  • Emulsifier – in creams it's usually lecithin, which keeps the texture smooth. 100% pastes do without it.

  • on bread and toast,
  • as a filling for muffins, croissants and sweet buns,
  • in desserts with raspberries and strawberries.

5-minute skyr dessert with raspberries

Layer 150 g of skyr, 1–2 tablespoons of the cream and a handful of raspberries in a glass. Sprinkle chopped pistachios on top. No baking, no blender, no waiting.
