Peanut spread with chocolate – CHOCO & PEANOOT CRUNCHY

A salty peanut, sweet chocolate and a crunch in every spoonful – that's Choco & Peanoot Crunchy, our peanut spread with dark chocolate and pieces of roasted peanuts. We make it by hand in the Good Noot workshop in Kraków – the nutty sister of the Good Lood ice cream shop. Every jar holds 59% roasted peanuts, 8% dark chocolate and not a gram of palm oil. The taste? Just like the cult American chocolate cups with a peanut filling – only spreadable.

Looking for a version with no added sugar? Meet the twin: Choco & Peanoot Crunchy with no added sugar.

Why Nootheads love Choco & Peanoot Crunchy

  • 59% roasted peanuts – they are the first ingredient and the real star here.
  • Real dark chocolate (8%) – made from cocoa mass and cocoa fat, not just cocoa powder.
  • Crunchy peanut pieces – it's the crunchy version, so every spoonful has a pleasant bite.
  • Vegan, gluten-free, no palm oil – we use shea fat instead of palm oil.
  • Source of protein – 19 g of protein per 100 g.
  • Handmade in Kraków – we roast, grind and jar it ourselves, and ship orders within 24 h.

Peanut spread with chocolate – what exactly is it?

A peanut spread (also called peanut cream) is a sweet spread based on ground, roasted peanuts. Unlike a paste, it also contains sugar, fat and flavourings. In our case the flavouring is dark chocolate – hence the name on the label: spread with peanuts and chocolate. The taste is peanut-and-chocolate: clearly nutty, with a lightly salty finish and a chocolate note.

How is it different from a paste? A 100% peanut paste is nothing but ground peanuts – no sugar, chocolate or emulsifiers. If that's what you want, try Peanoot Butter Crunchy (with peanut pieces) or the smooth Peanoot Butter. The spread is sweeter and more dessert-like – perfect on sandwiches, pancakes and in baking. "Crunchy" simply means we leave pieces of roasted peanuts in the spread.

How to choose a good peanut spread with chocolate? What to look for in the ingredients

  • Order of ingredients. Ingredients are listed from the largest amount. In a good nut spread, nuts or peanuts come first – ours contains 59% roasted peanuts.
  • Chocolate or "chocolate flavour". Check whether the list includes chocolate (with its own ingredients in brackets) or only cocoa or flavouring. We add 8% dark chocolate.
  • Type of fat. Many spreads are based on palm oil. Ours uses shea fat and cocoa fat from the chocolate.
  • Sugar. Let's be honest: sugar is the second ingredient in our spread, and 100 g contains 20 g of sugars. If you want less, choose the no-added-sugar version (4.1 g of sugars per 100 g) or the 100% Peanoot Butter Crunchy paste (6.4 g of sugars per 100 g – naturally occurring in peanuts).
  • Salt. A pinch of Himalayan salt (0.48 g per 100 g) brings out the peanut and chocolate flavour – that's the lightly salty finish.
  • Texture. Smooth or crunchy is a matter of taste. Natural spreads without hydrogenated fats may separate slightly – just stir.

How to use a peanut spread with chocolate? 2 quick recipes

The simplest way: on a crunchy baguette, toast or a rice cake. It also works great in porridge, on pancakes, as a filling for croissants and sweet buns, as an ice-cream topping or a layer in chocolate cake. And when no one's looking – straight from the jar.

Peanut and chocolate cake filling

Ingredients: 250 g mascarpone, 200 ml cold whipping cream (30–36%), 150 g Choco & Peanoot Crunchy, 1–2 tablespoons icing sugar (optional), a handful of roasted peanuts to decorate.

Whip the cold cream with the mascarpone and icing sugar until stiff. Towards the end of mixing, add Choco & Peanoot Crunchy one spoonful at a time. Use it to fill a cocoa sponge or chocolate cake and sprinkle peanuts on top. The peanut pieces in the spread give you a crunchy layer with no extra work.

No-bake chocolate cups with peanut filling

Ingredients (approx. 8 pieces): 200 g dark chocolate, 6–8 tablespoons Choco & Peanoot Crunchy, a pinch of salt, muffin cases.

Melt half of the chocolate and pour it into the bottom of the cases. Freeze for 10 minutes. Put a spoonful of the spread on each base, cover with the rest of the melted chocolate and sprinkle with a pinch of salt. Chill in the fridge for 30 minutes – done.
