Peanut cream with chocolate and no sugar – what exactly is it?
That is how people usually search for creams like ours. Formally, it is a cream with no added sugar: we add no sugar, and the sweetness comes from a sweetener – maltitol. Under food law, “sugar free” means less than 0.5 g of sugars per 100 g, and peanuts and cocoa contain their own natural sugars – so we honestly say “no added sugar”.
A cream is not the same as a paste. Peanoot Butter is a 100% peanut paste with no sweetening, and Peanoot Butter Crunchy is the same paste with peanut pieces. A cream has added ingredients – chocolate, shea fat and a sweetener – that give it a dessert-like taste and a creamy texture. “Crunchy” in the name means crunchy peanut pieces.

How to choose a chocolate nut cream with no added sugar: what to look for in the ingredients
- The first ingredient. In a good nut cream, it is nuts. Ours: roasted peanuts (59%).
- Chocolate or flavouring. Check whether the list includes chocolate or cocoa, or just a flavouring.
- What it is sweetened with. Creams with no added sugar are usually sweetened with maltitol or other polyols. You will find their content in the nutrition table (ours: 20 g/100 g).
- Type of fat. We use shea fat instead of palm oil.
- Protein in the table. If protein matters to you, compare grams per 100 g – ours has 19 g.

How to use peanut cream with chocolate and no added sugar
On toast, in porridge, on pancakes and waffles, with yoghurt and fruit – or straight from the jar. Two of our favourites:
Chocolate muffins with a nutty heart. Fill muffin cases halfway with chocolate batter, put a teaspoon of Choco & Peanoot in the middle of each and cover with the rest of the batter. Bake for about 20 minutes at 180°C. Cut one open to find a crunchy peanut-chocolate heart.
No-bake oat balls. Mix 4 tablespoons of the cream, 1 cup of oats and 2 tablespoons of cocoa. Shape into balls, roll in chopped peanuts and chill in the fridge for 30 minutes.
