CHOCONOOT® – hazelnut and cocoa spread made from roasted hazelnuts
CHOCONOOT® (say: choco-noot) is our cult spread of roasted hazelnuts and cocoa – smooth, thick and sweet, just the way Nootheads like it. We roast and grind the hazelnuts ourselves, then combine them with cocoa and a little milk powder. We make it by hand in Kraków – Good Noot is the nutty sister of the Good Lood ice cream shops. Cutting down on sugar? Meet its twin: CHOCONOOT® with no added sugar.
Why do Nootheads choose CHOCONOOT®?
- 14% roasted hazelnuts and 7% cocoa – a deep hazelnut-cocoa taste with no artificial flavourings.
- No palm oil – the creamy texture comes from sunflower oil and shea fat.
- Gluten-free and suitable for vegetarians – contains milk powder, so it is not vegan.
- No artificial colours or preservatives – the dark colour comes from cocoa.
- A big 350 g jar – for breakfasts, desserts and baking for the whole family.
- Handmade in Kraków – we roast, grind and label everything ourselves. Shipped within 24 h, free delivery from 99 PLN.
As our customers say, the taste "beats everything ever created to the nth power".
Hazelnut and cocoa spread – what exactly is it?
A hazelnut and cocoa spread (also called a cocoa hazelnut spread) is a sweet spread made from ground nuts, cocoa, sugar and fat. In shops and in everyday speech it is often simply called a "chocolate spread". There is no chocolate in Choconoot®, though – the flavour comes from cocoa, which is why the label says "spread with hazelnuts and cocoa".
Don't confuse it with a cocoa cake cream made from ingredients such as mascarpone and cream – although Choconoot® is perfect for making one (recipe below). A paste is something else again: just ground nuts, with no sugar or cocoa. If you want pure hazelnuts, choose 100% hazelnut paste TYLKO LASKOWY.
How to choose a good hazelnut and cocoa spread? What to look for in the ingredients
- Order of ingredients – the list starts with the ingredient there is most of. In Choconoot® sugar comes first – it is a sweet dessert spread and we don't pretend otherwise.
- How many nuts – the producer gives the percentage next to the ingredient. The more nuts, the nuttier the taste.
- Cocoa or flavouring – check whether cocoa is in the ingredients and how much.
- Type of fat – if you want to avoid palm oil, look for spreads made with other fats, e.g. shea fat and sunflower oil.
- Milk – milk powder means the spread is not vegan.
- Sugars in the table – if you want fewer, choose the no-added-sugar version.
