The holidays are a time of magic, gatherings, and… the aroma of chocolate wafting through the house. But in the pre-holiday rush, we don't always have time for elaborate, multi-layered cakes. What if we told you you could whip up a spectacular, delicious dessert in under half an hour?
Forget about deep-frying and standing at the stove. Here's a recipe for baked chocolate donuts that are fluffy as a cloud, moist, and incredibly easy to make. But what makes them a true holiday hit is the topping. And not just any topping!
A crispy topping that makes all the difference
Instead of regular chocolate or icing, we dip our donuts in liquid gold – heated cream Choconoot® Crunchy from Good Noot .
Why is this a game changer?
-
Taste: The combination of roasted hazelnuts and cocoa is a classic that everyone loves.
-
Texture: Thanks to pieces of crunchy nuts in the cream, your donuts gain a delicious, nutty texture, reminiscent of the best pralines.
-
Convenience: Simply heat it up to create a perfect, shiny glaze that quickly hardens into a delicious crust.
Recipe for Christmas Chocolate Donuts
Prepare a donut pan (silicone or metal), your favorite Christmas sprinkles, and get started!
Ingredients for the dough (for approx. 6-8 pieces):
-
1 egg
-
1/3 cup oil (rapeseed or melted coconut)
-
1/2 cup milk (cow or plant)
-
1/4 cup xylitol (or sugar)
-
1 half cup of wheat flour (or light spelt flour)
-
2 tablespoons of dark cocoa
-
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
For decoration:
-
Choconoot® Crunchy Cream by Good Noot (approx. half a jar)
-
Favorite topping (e.g. gold stars, almond flakes, freeze-dried raspberries)
Preparation method:
-
Wet ingredients: In one bowl, thoroughly whisk together the egg, milk, and oil. You can use a whisk to combine the ingredients into a smooth emulsion.
-
Dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, xylitol, and baking powder. It's a good idea to sift the cocoa powder and flour to remove any lumps.
-
Combine: Pour the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. Mix briefly, just until the flour disappears and a smooth dough forms. Do not overmix to keep the dough fluffy!
-
Baking: Preheat oven to 180°C . Pour the batter into greased donut pans (fill them about 3/4 full). Bake for about 20 minutes , or until a skewer inserted into the pan comes out clean.
-
Cooling: Remove the donuts from the oven and let them cool in the pan for a while, then transfer them to a wire rack.
-
Choconoot® Magic: Place a few generous spoonfuls of Choconoot® Crunchy spread in a bowl. Heat it over a double boiler (hold the bowl over steaming water) or in the microwave (stirring for a few seconds) until smooth and shiny.
-
To decorate: Dip each donut in the melted icing, coating the top with crunchy peanuts. Immediately sprinkle with your favorite holiday sprinkles before the icing sets.
A sweet gift from the heart
These donuts look so beautiful, they're perfect as an edible gift for loved ones. Wrap them in a decorative box, tie them with a ribbon, and give someone a little sweet joy.
